One year I got typhoid. Was put into isolation ward of IIT Hospital. People stopped talking to me, Shyam Maniyar was the only one who visited me and took care of my course tests and home works.
The food was so bad – white bread and milk, that I started dreaming of tasty snacks I will get when I get free.
More urgent was the course work. I remember in Organic Chemistry the professor allowed me to have a make up test – just had to study a few hundred pages (700?) of the book for that. Shyam brought the book with him.
Thought for a day and few hours, weighed the book on my palms, and finally decided to drop the course. Think the professor was relieved too. IIT professors expect a lot from us. Think we are the cream of the world.
