Must do test

For the Option One job, the recruiter had already warned me about the test. I didn’t understand him, Thought it was SQL. From Berkeley drove all the way to Irvine carrying a book titled “SQL Bible.”

Towards the end of interview the test was announced. 12 minutes, 30 questions. Nobody was expected to finish the test.

Open the booklet. No SQL, a standard general test of verbal, quant, and analytical questions.

First question was verbal. Question was on some idiomatic use of language – most middle class Americans perhaps knew it, but not me. I guessed for 30 – 40 seconds but still could not answer it.

Decided to skip all verbal questions.

After finishing in 10 minutes pretended to start sleeping.

Michael knew someone in the personnel department and he found out that I got 39 out of 50. Normally executives scored 22-25. Mine was the highest ever.
